Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope this letter finds you and your family well.
I am writing to share some exciting news regarding the leadership at Birchfield Primary School from September.
Across our Trust, we pride ourselves on a collaborative approach that ensures a high-quality of education for
thousands of pupils across multiple schools. This approach also allows us to retain our most talented staff through
leadership development and internal promotion.
Beginning in September, Mrs Thewlis will take on a role focused on school improvement across our Trust.
Unfortunately, this means that she will no longer serve as the Headteacher at Birchfield Primary School. Mrs Thewlis
joined the Trust in September 2004 and has been Headteacher at Birchfield for the past five years. Her relentless
dedication and commitment have ensured a high standard of education for every child, and we are deeply grateful for
her service to our pupils and their families.
I am pleased to announce that Mrs Hazeldine will assume the role of Head of School at Birchfield starting in
September. Mrs Hazeldine has been with the Trust for the past 10 years and currently serves as the Deputy
Headteacher at Prince Albert School. She has a proven track record of ensuring high educational standards and
fostering strong relationships with families. She will work closely with Mr Aldred and the senior leadership team to
ensure the best possible education for our pupils.
Please join me in thanking Mrs Thewlis for her hard work and dedication to the Birchfield community and wishing her
well on her new venture. I know that you will give a warm welcome to Mrs Hazeldine in the usual Birchfield way to
enable her to settle in as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your ongoing and continued support to both Birchfield School and the Trust.
Mrs Phillipa Sherlock-Lewis
