Dear Parents and children
Welcome back! I hope that you have all had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed the time together despite the uncertainty and the concerns that Covid19 continues to present for us all.
I know you will have mixed feelings about your child returning to school; the last few months have been a difficult time for everyone. The Birchfield team are here to help and to ensure that this runs as smoothly as possible for us all.
Please ensure that you have re-read the parent information pack on the website before you return to school. This detailed pack has been put together to help you plan and prepare for the first few days and weeks as you get used to being back at school. For any further questions, please contact the school via email at
As you may know, there have been some concerns recently reported about the infection rate in parts of the city. We are monitoring all updates carefully. Please be reassured that we have carried out a very detailed risk assessment of operations to keep our site as safe and secure as possible. As an additional measure, we would like to ask that all children stay in school for lunch - they may bring a packed lunch or have a school lunch as you wish. We will of course keep reviewing the guidance and responding as needed.
School will reopen for pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 on Thursday 3rd September, with a slightly staggered start for Reception and Nursery children as is usual. All arrangements for each year group are in the parent information pack. I am so looking forward to seeing you all and having our school community back together again.
See you soon!
Mrs Thewlis
