Speak Up, Speak Out Competition

On Friday 26th June, Liyana Ghani, from 6F, proudly represented Birchfield at Excelsior MAT’s Speak Up! Speak Out! competition.

She delivered a powerful and thought-provoking speech on the value of respect and what it means to her, capturing the audience’s attention from the very beginning.

What makes Liyana’s achievement even more impressive is the dedication and effort she put in beforehand. She independently drafted and wrote her speech, carefully choosing her words to ensure her message was clear, meaningful and impactful. She showed great maturity in structuring her ideas, using persuasive language and considering how best to engage her audience. Liyana also spent time practising her delivery, refining her expression, pace and use of voice so that she could present with confidence and clarity.

Standing alone on stage in front of an audience of adults and pupils, as well as a panel of four judges, Liyana spoke fluently and with great poise. Public speaking at this level requires courage, careful preparation and strong communication skills, all of which Liyana demonstrated brilliantly. She maintained excellent eye contact, projected her voice clearly and delivered her speech with real confidence and conviction. She was truly outstanding and a fantastic ambassador for our school. We are incredibly proud of her achievement and the resilience and determination she showed throughout the process. Well done, Liyana – a brilliant accomplishment!
