Sport at Birchfield has been absolutely jam-packed this year, and the summer term has been no exception! The children have taken part in a wide range of events and competitions, showing fantastic enthusiasm teamwork and determination throughout.
This summer, we have participated in:
- KESSP football tournament (Y3/4 boys)
- West Brom football tournament (Y3/4 boys)
- Netball festival
- KESSP athletics event
- Athletics for All event at the Alexander Stadium
- Cricket tournament
- Girls’ KESSP football tournament
- Girls’ Aston Villa tournament at the Villa Dome
- Y5/6 boys’ friendly match vs Heathfield
Our Year 3/4 boys’ football team had an outstanding run of success, winning the KESSP tournament and reaching the final of the West Brom competition. The girls’ football team also represented the school brilliantly in both the KESSP tournament and the exciting opportunity to play at the Aston Villa Dome. We attended a netball festival where the children developed new skills and built their understanding of the game, helping prepare us to be more competitive in future competitions.
In athletics, we took part in two fantastic events: a KESSP competition and the prestigious Athletics for All event held at the Alexander Stadium. The children performed brilliantly and showed great perseverance across all events. We also competed in a cricket tournament, where the team performed very well and demonstrated excellent teamwork and sportsmanship. Finally, our
Year 5/6 boys enjoyed a friendly match against our PACT rivals, Heathfield.
We are incredibly proud to have achieved the School Games Gold Mark this year – the first time since 2022. This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the commitment, participation and success of sport across the school. We are extremely proud of all our sporting achievements this year and look forward to continuing this success into next year – with hopefully many more trophies to add to Birchfield’s ever-growing collection!
