4/11/2022: Home Work and Home learning

Dear Parents

We know that regular practise and recall supports children to commit important information into their long term memory. At school we incorporate daily retrieval activities into our lessons to provide plenty of opportunities for children to recall, and remember, key knowledge.

Homework is an important part of this practise. Your child will be receiving homework on a Friday and will now receive a short task on Tuesday. All homework is chosen to support children to practise and retain key information and skills. Please support your child’s learning by asking them about their homework and encouraging them to complete it carefully. Equally if your child has found something challenging, easy or enjoyable, please feed this back to the teacher.

Where children are absent from school, your child’s teacher may provide some ‘catch up’ materials to support with learning that has been missed. Please take time to look at these materials and see the class teacher if you need anything further.

In response to parent feedback, we have updated our curriculum overviews to provide additional information for parents. These will be available on the school website shortly and can be found in the ‘for you’ section. We will continue to share knowledge organisers and home learning projects that support the school curriculum.

Finally, please ensure that your child is reading regularly and for at least ten minutes per day.

Thank you for your continued support.
